CotY 2009 Awards – Austin Chapter

AUSTIN NARI, the Central Texas Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry announces “Contractor of the Year” (CotY) winners

Innovative, stunning remodeling projects claim top honors for 7 Austin remodeling companies in 16 categories

Austin, Texas, November 12, 2009. Sixteen Austin “Contractor of the Year” (CotY) Winners were named by AUSTIN NARI, the Central Texas Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) during this year’s local competition. Judging for the local projects took place at NARI’s local headquarters in October. Local CotY Winners will now advance as competitors at the regional and national level.

Close scores in several categories indicate that competition this year was tough. Contractors from a five-county area vie for this prestigious award on an annual basis, and all winners are eligible for National CotY Awards and will be honored at Evening of Excellence SM on Saturday, April 10th, 2010, at the Wyndham Phoenix Hotel.

Most projects submitted for judging were an improvement or an addition to an existing structure, with the exception of one category, “Residential Exterior Specialty.” Otherwise, new construction projects were not eligible. In addition, competing projects were completed between May 1, 2008 and September 1, 2009 and were not submitted in prior AUSTIN NARI contests. An impartial panel of judges who are experts within the industry and associated fields, selected winners based on each entrant’s “before and after” photography and project description. Judging was based on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, degree of difficulty and entry presentation.

To be considered for a CotY Award, a company must be a NARI member in good standing. NARI members represent an elite group of the approximately 800,000 companies and individuals in the U.S. identifying themselves as remodelers.

The Celebrating Excellence CotY Award Ceremony is widely considered the premier event of the year in the remodeling industry.  Scheduled for Thursday, November 12th, 2009, the Ceremony was attended by approximately 200 of the industry’s elite and was sponsored by the following Gold Member companies:  Fine Lumber, Texas Disposal Systems, and Dirty Work Hauling.

Winners in 16 categories include the following:
